Winter Layout

Winter Fun!

Today I'm back with a fun Winter scrapbook layout of my two favorite subjects in the whole world! My kids! These pictures were taken about 2 weeks ago, when the winter storm hit Dallas.

It was the best and worst thing. The best, because there was no school and I got to enjoy my cuties! The worst is because Dallas is not prepared for snow causing everything to shut down and or close, so we came dangerously close to running out of food!

But with the winter white background I decided to get pictures of my snow bunnies. And may i say, that they look mighty cute?

When I saw the pictures I knew i had to create something with them!

And this is what I came up with. Snow, trees, blues and reds. I used Carta Bella's 'Winter Fun' collection. It was perfect for this layout!

I layered white on white cardstock as I wanted to mimic snow and the whiteness and brightness of the pictures, but it looked too plain when it was layered. So, what I did was emboss the letter size cardstock on the eBosser and used the 'Delicate Dots' embossing folder to bring texture to the layout and create the illusion of "falling snow".

Also, I used scraps of this collection, because I had scraps. I used the strips of some of my leftover papers and just created a frame around the embossed sheet.

Check out the crisp embossing! It's gorgeous! I tied the dots on the trees with the texture to make it all come together.

I did have a ton of stickers from the collection, which really was nice to add to the layout, because my handwriting is awful!

I hope you liked my project! I love it when things come together so nicely, when not planned. I knew those picture where beautiful but I had no plans of scrapbooking them, so it was nice to now have this immortalized in a scrapbook page.

Teresa Collins 'In Time for the Holidays' Blog Hop!

Teresa Collins 'In Time for the Holidays' Blog Hop!

Welcome to Day 5 and the final day of the Teresa Collins Holiday Blog Hop!

Today, I went a little overboard while wrapping my daughters Christmas present.

Olivia is 6, and she is into pink, and sparkles and most recently into her glasses. She recently got some prescription glasses after we found out that she had a terrible eye sight. So terrible, that she may need surgery in a few months, but right now she's wearing some high prescription glasses and we are hoping this will delay or eliminate the need for surgery later on.

I made the whole getting glasses experience really fun, and got her the highest index glass possible, because she is so far sided that otherwise her glasses would look like coke bottles... NO JOKE.

Not wanting to chance her getting picked on at school, we went with a trendy pair. And now she LOVES them! And all her friends tell her how great she looks, which really makes her feel good.

                         She looks pretty rad!

Wanting to celebrate her new look, and improved "outlook" on life, I wrapped her Christmas gift (from Mommy & Daddy)with all things nerdy & cool!

OK, OK. This did take me a really long time! I stamped brown paper with some nerdy glasses stamp I got at Michaels (dollar section) in pink, and made a tag that I embossed with Teresa Collins eBosser & her 'Houndstooth' folder.

The 'Houndstooth' folder is perfect! It reminds me of nerdy plaid!

The emboss is as deep as it can go without ripping, and it's seriously beautiful!

I'm hoping she likes it! The gift, and the gift wrap too! ;)

Teresa Collins 'In Time for the Holidays' Blog Hop!

Teresa Collins 'In Time for the Holidays' Blog Hop!

Welcome to Day 4 of the Teresa Collins Holiday Hop!

Today I have another gift idea for the teenagers or those who don't commit to telling you what they want for Christmas!

As I mentioned before, I use my Teresa Collins embossing folders and eBosser for everything! From BIG to small.

Today, I was inspired by this pin idea and thought, well that's cool! But the water in the globe would make it hard to get your gift card!

Instead I looked around the internet and found a lot of mason jars mini globes with small trees, and I wanted to dress up a very simple $10 dollar bill to make it more special.

So, I went back to Dollar Tree (Yes, I'm CHEAP) and got a two pack of tiny Christmas trees (they are in the Christmas decor section) I used my eCraft to cut a heart out of cardstock and folded into a tiny envelope to hold the $10 dollars.

Then I used my Teresa Collins eBosser and Starburst embossing folder (also by Teresa) to add some texture to the tiny envelope. I sealed the envelope with a heart sticker.

I used my hot glue gun to glue the tiny tree on the mason jar lid, and added some cotton balls and tiny ornaments I had for cardmaking  I had. Then I put a little glitter in the jar for added sparkle and stamped cardstock with a Holiday Stamp and glued on the tree. I then put  the tiny envelope and closed the jar.

The end result is a festive, more personal touch to a simple  giftcard or dollar bill.
